Character Creation & Colors

Always allowed:

Allowed with plausible backstory:
● Eurasian wolf
● Mexican wolf
● Tibetan wolf
● British Columbia wolf
● Vancouver Island wolf
● Indian wolf

Any species not listed here is never permitted. You do not need to get your backstory approved by a staff member, but if your backstory is found to be unrealistic, you may be asked to edit it. You must have your backstory posted on a site or somewhere easily accessible to both other players and staff. Please contact staff with any questions.

Not all dog breeds are permitted in Yellowstone, yet there are too many to list. If you are unsure if your breed is allowed, please ask a staff member. This is your safest bet if you want to prevent being asked to change your breed after having designed/roleplayed your character.

That being said, wolf designs are not permitted to have stripes, brindle, spots, or any other blatantly unrealistic marking. A wolfdog may have brindle or spots, provided their dog genes are not too diluted (for example, a wolfdog that is only 1/4 dog should not have clear, well defined spots or brindle markings that make it look indistinguishable from an actual dog).

The maximum height and weight for all male canines is 36" and 150lbs.
The maximum height and weight for all female canines is 32" and 120lbs.
Please keep in mind that if your character's subspecies/breed does not naturally get this large, your character cannot hit the max cap.




Yellowstone is a dream with limited human influence; therefore, not all accessories are allowed. Anything not explicitly mentioned in the list below is never permitted.
