These rules are liable to change at any time.
● Yellowstone is a nonconsent dream. By entering the IC, you are giving consent for others to post at you. This includes but is not limited to being attacked, assaulted, or killed (provided these actions do not break any other rules). You cannot refuse to roleplay if someone has already posted at you. There is only one exception to this rule: rape, which is against Furcadia rules and therefore also against the dream rules. OOC consent must be given for this type of roleplay.
● If roleplayers ask you to leave when you are not roleplaying, you are required to either join the roleplay or leave.
● If someone posts at you, the location of your avatar directly correlates to the IC location of your character. ADDITIONALLY, if you wish to post at someone for whatever reason (trespassing on your territory, you have IC beef with them, etc), YOU MUST POST DIRECTLY AND SPECIFICALLY AT THEM. Posts such as "Joe Wolf walks up and says hello to anyone who is present" do not count, because you are leaving it open-ended for anyone to join or not join.
● There is an extremely limited amount of human influence allowed within the dream. If your character is injured, we do not permit patrons to roleplay as though their characters were taken away by rangers to be nursed back to health. You can have human influence such as "a ranger nursing your character back to health" in your backstory. Or if a character is gone for more than a few months IC, this is something that can be used as a plot device. This rule is mainly to deter people from twinking out of injuries. All injuries from fights must "heal" in a realistic amount of IC time. Furthermore, the usage of herbs and tools is not permitted unless you are playing a species that has been known to utilize tools in nature (ex: crows, otters, etc.).
● You may roleplay characters that suffer from contagious diseases such as mange or rabies, but (in order to avoid potential thrillkill situations) you must obtain OOC consent before you "infect" another character.
● The official dream timeline is 1 IRL week = 1 IC month. All characters must comply with this in order to prevent issues in which parents have children older than they are. ~3 IRL months = 1 IC year, and so on. The maximum age for wolf characters is 13 IC years.
● Wolves reach sexual maturity at 22 months of age. Exceptions can be made for wolfdogs and coywolves. Females must be pregnant for 2 IRL weeks, and they must nurse for 2 IRL weeks--during this time, they cannot go into estrus again unless their pups are abandoned or killed.
● Pups that are 6 months and older (and have been previously roleplayed) cannot be declared dead due to inactivity. To clarify, if someone has been acceptably active (that is, following the activity rules as established by the parents) up until the 6 IC month mark and then goes inactive, they cannot be declared dead due to inactivity by the parents. The parents may ICly believe and consider the pup to be dead, but they cannot force-kill the character who (if/when they return to the game) is permitted to create an IC explanation for their absence like any adult character.
● Individual packs may only claim one territory/den in the dream.
● Twinking is not permitted. Refusing to respond when posted at, refusing to respond when in a fight roleplay, and logging off in the middle of a fight roleplay all count as twinking. In the context of a fight roleplay, twinking will always result in your character being declared the loser, and their IC fate is left to your opponent(s).
● Powerplaying/god-moding is not permitted. You are restricted by the anatomy of the species you are playing, and for every strength, there must be a weakness. Your character cannot be super-strong, super-fast, and super-skilled. Time must also be allotted for the healing of wounds, and they must be roleplayed accordingly. Staff members should always be whispered in suspected god-moded situations, especially during a fight. If someone thinks the staff is being biased towards one side, then the fight can be put on lock until an owner or manager arrives to clear up any misunderstandings. Additionally, you may not dictate the actions of another person's character in your posts unless given express permission to do so. Controlling an NPC in your posts does not count as god-moding.
● Thrillkilling is not permitted. You may not attack another character without reasonable IC cause. Killing out of self-defense is never considered thrill-killing. Also keep in mind that killing "intruders" can be considered thrill-killing; you cannot attack an intruder without first issuing them an IC order to leave the area. The killing of pups (7 months & younger), cubs, foals, or any other juvenile character is never considered thrill-killing. This rule does, however, apply to prey-animal characters (bison, horses, deer, and so on). You may hunt, but you should also talk to the prey character's player about the intentions of the RP. You may not kill a character based on its sexual orientation, fur color, etc. That is not a legitimate reason and you will be called for thrill-killing. As soon as thrill-kill is suspected, notify a staff member.
● OOC to IC is not permitted. You cannot assume any IC knowledge unless your character was told of it through roleplay or experienced it through roleplay. You cannot have your character behave a certain way towards another character simply because you do not like them OOCly. Logs can be requested for proof of RP if OOC to IC is suspected. Our suggestion is to notify a staff member to clarify any misunderstandings or suspicions.
● Hateful language is absolutely not tolerated. Yellowstone is a dream open to people of all races, religions, genders, and sexualities.
● IC to OOC is not permitted. Please be respectful of one another and do not hold grudges over IC events.
● Be respectful towards staff. If you have an issue with a staff member, please bring it directly to a manager. In the past, YS staff and patrons have had a very antagonistic relationship with one another, and we are working very hard to change that. We want this to be a fun, enjoyable place for everyone, but we need your help to do it.
● If a staff member is already helping you with your problem, please do not call in another one. Our staff know what they are doing, and going around behind backs only makes things much more complicated. As mentioned, if you believe a staff member is being unfair/biased/etc., please save logs and contact a manager as soon as possible. If one is not online, we highly recommend you leave them an offline whisper (you can send offline whispers by adding the alt to Pounce and whispering them through there).
● While swearing and violent roleplay are allowed here, we are still a T+ dream loaded on an E+ map. Do not link to any NSFW sites or sites meant for 18+ audiences. Refrain from putting NSFW art on your character sites as well.
● Because we are a T+ dream, main chat conversations should reflect that. If someone is uncomfortable with excessive cursing or adult topics, you must be respectful and refrain. If it isn't something you would say in front of a 13 year old, you probably shouldn't be saying it here.
